I am now in China, currently in Hangzhou, and finally got wifi at this five star hotel I am staying at as part of a tour, and the only way I can communicate with the outside world on a social media network I frequent is Tumblr and Flickr funnily enough. I am amazed these two are still allowed though. Were they not previously banned?? If anyone (either in China or out of it) could tell me how to get past the Great Fire Wall and onto Tw*tter and tell me here, I will love you forever!!!

It’s been two days without it and I am having major withdrawal symptoms… God I am pathetic. Firewall is amazing like you wouldn’t believe. Affiliates, a lot of proxy servers, and websites even remotely mentioning attempting the T word all get blocked. Why are they so scared? I need my Ts! Had considered getting international roaming with Telstra but the prices are exorbitant, understandable but I just can’t afford it! And even then I dunno if I’d get access.

Whingeing aside, it’s overwhelming to be in China again. It’s been about 7 years! And you’ve never encountered chaos until you’ve been to any one of the major cities here. I’m already really tired being with this tour. Still got a few more cities to go before I head back to Shanghai to be with paternal family. Will post photos on my photoblog when I can.
